Lots of things cause acne to happen which is why pretty much everyone suffers from it at some point. Learning how to care for our skin and keep acne at bay is part of growing up–we all have to learn to do it or we’ll never grow out of the acne we faced as teenagers when we were going through puberty! Keep reading to learn some tips to keep your skin clean and free of acne.

Wash Your Face Carefully

Take it easy on your face when you wash it. Don’t try to scrub it clean! When you wash your face too vigorously, you can leave it raw and vulnerable. Putting too much pressure on your skin when you wash your face can injure the sensitive skin you are trying to keep clean and can leave it more damaged than anything else. You could even scar your face if you scrub it too hard! A gentle but firm touch is best when you are washing your face. Don’t fret–you can do it! A bright red face is not the goal! Bright red is not okay, but you do want to have a little bit of a flushed look. A little bit of a glow is healthy but resembling a stop sign is not.

Avoid Oily Products

Keep an eye on how much oil is contained in your beauty products and makeup. Even your facial cleanser might have oil in it! Oily pores are the reason you are taking steps to clean your face! When you go shopping be sure to look at the ingredients of the different products that you buy. The simplest way to avoid putting extra oil onto your skin is to eschew the liquid-based cosmetics and choose powder-based cosmetics instead. Choose light cleansers instead of heavy cleansers that start out as solid bars or are almost syrupy inconsistency. Take your time instead of grabbing the first thing you see!

Stop Touching Your Face

Keep your hands away from breakouts that do happen. Do not squeeze pimples or pick at zits. If you do not leave your pimples alone they won’t heal correctly. Though should never ever play with, pick at or pop your pimples, it is okay to gently wash your breakout with some acne fighting cleansers. When left to heal naturally some breakouts might stick around for a day or two. What would you rather deal with? A spotty face for a day or two or a scarred face forever? There are many factors that can cause a person to experience acne. The size and scope of a person’s breakouts are not important–what is important is knowing that you are not the only one who gets acne. Some people might need more help curing their acne than other people but it is important to know that everyone, regardless of their age, will battle acne at some stage. There are lots of fixes for skin problems. You might be able to fix your problem completely with a simple cleanser you buy at the store. A dermatologist’s help might be needed to treat your skin issues. Just keep trying and soon you’ll find the solution you’ve been looking for!
