Transparent Rivers I

This was my first attempt to create a piece entirely of hand-dyed fabrics I had created. I worked on the wall moving various shades around, creating the glowing center. After construction the "ribbons" of metallic and rayon thread were added. They reminded me of aerial photographs of meandering rivers reflecting sunlight against the dark background.

This piece is machine pieced of hand-dyed 100% cottons, machine embroidered with metallic and rayon threads and machine quilted with rayon variegated thread.
