Spirits: Past, Present, and Future

This piece was an outgrowth of odd shapes left over from another project. The "discarded" pieces had been put up on a wall and looked like dancing shapes. When I placed them on the turquoise of the background piece, they looked like creatures swimming through deep water. They emerged into three levels: the bleak black background of my past, the colorful present and the spiritual images of the future.

This piece is machine pieced of 100% cotton, hand-dyed and painted by the artist. It is machine quilted with variegated rayon thread, and embellished with machine embroidery.
