Shifting Sand

This quilt was made shortly after a trip to Europe. A friend from Germany took me to the North Sea where the beach stretched for miles out to the water. I took a long walk toward the water but never made it to the actual sea. This piece is made of my own hand-dyed cottons, with small strips of silk, which I had purchased on the trip. The colors are very muted, which is very unusual for my work.
